Grade 3A

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Medine Cilek and I will be teaching Grade 3A this year. It has been a pleasure to meet some of you who have already come to discuss your child’s progress and concerns so far. I look forward to meeting all of you at the beginning of Term Two during parent teacher interviews. In the meantime, if you have any concerns, please feel free to make an appointment to discuss any issues you may have. Alternatively you are welcome to email me directly. If you currently do not have a parent SEQTA password please see our office staff in order to attain one. You will then have an opportunity to see your child’s progress throughout the term.

We have had a very busy start to this term. The students have been settling in well and they have been actively engaged in learning about ‘Healthy Eating’ for our integrated studies topic. It has been great to see them develop their ICT skills; where they are currently in the process of working on PowerPoint projects about healthy eating. They will then have the opportunity to present their work to their peers.

During Literacy; students have been working on writing narrative stories where they have been working on character development, figurative language and describing storyline in detail. Whilst in Numeracy; we have looked at place value, computations, time and angles.

Helpful reminders:

• Please encourage your child to read nightly and change home readers on a regular basis.
• Check over completed homework so they can rectify any errors and improve their understanding of the set tasks.
• Label any items of clothing etc. to avoid loss of materials.
• Remind them about homework due dates.

Maths mentals tasks are due on Monday mornings

Homework booklet tasks are due on Fridays

If your child is unable to complete their homework or project work; a note is required so we can help with extensions where plausible.
